Apple's technical challenge
Soldered SSD.
Not removable. Recoverable.
In modern Macs, the SSD cannot be removed and connected to another machine. It requires specialised chip-level access techniques. That is exactly what we do.
What makes a soldered SSD different?
Fully integrated
NAND chips are soldered directly onto the logic board with no removable connector.
Hardware encryption
The T2 chip or Secure Enclave encrypts all data with keys tied to the hardware.
No cleanroom needed
This is not about opening a mechanical disk. It is precision electronics work.
Techniques we use
- Direct NAND chip reading
- Damaged controller bypass
- T2 chip repair when possible
- Storage image dump
- File system reconstruction
Compatible models
- MacBook Air / Pro from 2018
- iMac from 2019
- Mac mini from 2018
- All Apple Silicon models
- iPhone 2020+
- iPad 2020+

Questions about soldered SSD
All MacBook Air from 2018, all MacBook Pro from 2019 (Touch Bar) or 2020, all Mac mini from 2018, all iMac from 2019 and all Mac Pro from 2019. In short: any Mac from the last 6–7 years has a soldered or proprietary non-swappable SSD module.
General data recovery laboratories work primarily with conventional hard drives and SSDs. The soldered SSD in Apple devices requires specialist equipment, training and procedures that most labs simply do not have.
Not necessarily. Apple's encryption is tied to the device's security chip, which adds complexity — but in many cases, if the board retains sufficient integrity, the data can be decrypted correctly. We explain this precisely during the diagnosis.
